Hooboy! That’s one fine head of hair. Though, we’d expect nothing less from the mop of Ben Katzman’s DeGreaser.

You’ve seen Ben Katzman before, rocking out at local punk shows, “chilling mad hard” at various Jamaica Plain houses, and co-owning and operating local label BUFU Records. Now, with a new solo outfit, Ben Katzman’s DeGreaser, the young shredder is the one behind the mic, and is on the verge of releasing his debut album, “DeGreaser,” on July 4 via BUFU. Along with it, today he premieres his first video for “Jontraband,” a garagey romp expressing his deep envy for the endless styles of John Travolta.

While the song itself employs simple and infectious verses, its lo-fi charm, combined with a super tasty solo, makes the song a pleasant melange of what we’ve heard from BUFU Records thus far- from noise punk to basement glam. DeGreaser’s songwriting is perfectly in line with Katzman’s quirky rockhardability, making the “Grease” star out to be a rock god in his own right. Katzman’s personality shines through in the video as well, and we’re expecting a spike in sales of AriZona Iced Tea tall boys as a result of it. Check out the new video above, and don’t miss “DeGreaser,” the debut album from Ben Katzman’s Degreaser out July 4 on BUFU Records.
