TV Sets: A synopsis of the musical guests to hit the talk show circuit this week.
Just about everyone has fallen for Courtney Barnett‘s charm and witty songwriting, including Ellen Degeneres. The talk show host declared Barnett one of her “favorite new artists” when she stopped by the show to deliver a beautifully low key performance of “Depreston”. Her debut LP “Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit” is officially released on Monday, but you can stream it now here.
Modest Mouse celebrated the release of their new album with a performance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”. All nine members of the band piled onto the Tonight Show stage to perform “Lampshades On Fire” from “Strangers To Ourselves”, their first album since 2007.
Tobias Jesso Jr. took to the Conan stage with Danielle Haim on the drums, a full string section, and Ariel Rechtshaid on bass. The piano man performed a beautifully heartfelt version of “Without You” from his recently released debut LP, “Goon”.
Jimmy Kimmel invited Austin based Spoon to perform two new songs during “Jimmy Kimmel Live’s” broadcast from SXSW. Their upcoming album “They Want My Soul” is out August 5th.
