Johnny Depp took a break from filming the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film in Australia to visit some very excited children at Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane Tuesday.
Did we mention he was dressed as Jack Sparrow?
Depp has a history of breaking out the Sparrow garb for hospital visits, telling E! that he travels with the costume even when he isn’t working on a Pirates film. “I’ll just sneak in and go and surprise a bunch of kiddies through the different wards,” Depp said. “It basically turns into a two-, three-hour improvisation and it’s really fun. So I travel with Captain Jack.”
Depp spent the afternoon giving out hugs…
…sharing a bit of his pirate treasure…
…and messing with the cameras.
Rachel Bennett, whose son Max has a rare neurological disorder, told ABC Australia Depp spent hours with the children.
“He was taking his time to make sure he spoke to each and every one of them,” Bennett said. “It was really beautiful. Everyone kept on trying to move him on, but he kept on coming back.”
