I believe it’s an old adage that says “pizza in the morning, pizza in the evening, pizza at suppertime,” but anyone who routinely eats Totino’s Pizza Rolls knows that when pizza’s in a roll, the best time to eat it is really late at night whilst lying sheepishly on the couch.
Thus, it’s only the most perfect marketing move for Totino’s Pizza Rolls, a company owned by Fortune 500 giant General Mills, to enlist Tim and Eric, the late night comedy super-weirdos behind Adult Swim show “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” to put together an epic 3-minute add that is basically complete hysterical nonsense. Not only do Tim and Eric have a history of creating ridiculous ads for unexpected companies, such as their Jeff Goldblum spot for General Electric lightbulbs, or their Absolut Vodka promotion will Zach Galifianakis, but Totino’s has always shown its sense of humor, especially with its on-point tumblr game. Couple that with the fact that pizza rolls are the perfect snack to stuff your face with as you laugh dimwittedly, and we’ve got a match made in heaven.
Predictably, but nonetheless epically, the Totino’s ad features voice changes, awkward looking old people, something that resembles a rap, and plenty of strange pauses. I’m not sure how much it will spike the appetite, but is that really even the point?
