On Saturday at the Pepsi Team Invitational, Oregon’s Tanguy Pepiot thought he had it in the bag. So he slowed down to pump up the crowd.
Big mistake.
To Pepiot’s dismay, Washington’s Meron Simon caught up to him. Simon was as surprised as anyone.
“I thought he had me,” Simon told the Oregonian. “I thought he was so far ahead. Then I heard the crowd get crazy. And then he started throwing his hands up, and I thought: ‘I don’t think he knows I’m coming.’”
Following the loss, Pepiot was understandably crushed.
Luckily, someone was there to pick him up.
