Was this the best summer of the 90s, music-wise?
You can make a pretty solid argument that the best year of the decade that defined alternative music was 1997. So it stands to reason that the summer of 1997 would be the best music-summer of the 90s, right? A hodgepodge of rock, ska, Britpop, and techno from heavy-hitters and up-and-comers was the soundtrack. Twenty years later, a lot of the songs still stand up. Others? Well, let’s just say they’re in there for the nostalgia factor. (Looking at you, Sugar Ray and Smash Mouth).
