Three days and thousands of votes later, we’re down to two Christmas songs. And wouldn’t you know it… it’s Christmas!
Tomorrow, one ultimate tune will be crowned. Will it be the three seed, Nat King Cole, coming out of left field with his solid gold vocals, or Vince Guaraldi, fighting his way from the iTunes Holiday Shuffle region with a dynamite right hand? The choice is yours.
In case you missed our initial post on Monday, we started with 16 inarguable Christmas classics, and after thousands of user votes, somehow we’re now at two. Some battles were close, and others bit the dust pretty hard (not your time yet, “Frozen”). Now that we’ve reached the finals, it’s tough to make a case against either song on the board. Without further ado, here are yesterday’s results, as well as today’s matchups and poll.
(3) “The Christmas Song” (73%) Over (1) “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (27%)
Mariah may be able to hit glass-shattering high notes, but it seems that readers just happen to be suckers for the oldies. Defeating the entire left side of the bracket, which featured the best of Christmas’ pop jams as well as the most classic Christmas crooners, Nat King Cole is looking to make this one final.
(1) “Christmas Time Is Here” (62%) Over (1) “Blue Christmas” (38%)
The right side of the bracket was a fierce one, featuring the best in holiday rock, as well as those songs that were just too eclectic to be shuffled into a more specific realm. If the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll couldn’t make it out of there alive, you better believe that Vince Guaraldi is a fighter.
