After a summer full of Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Seth MacFarlane sightings, the trailer for “Ted 2” has been released, featuring another Boston-centric story packed with everything you could want in an R-rated summer comedy.
In the sequel to the MacFarlane’s 2012 hit, the writer-director’s Family Guy roots are showing again, and it’s not just because of the vaguely Peter Griffin-sounding cuddly protagonist.
Ted (MacFarlane and a whole lot of CGI) is now married to Tammy Lynn (who is the subject of this extended joke in the original movie), and needs John (Wahlberg) to donate sperm in order for the couple to have a child. The two head over to the completely fictional “Boston Fertility Group” –
– and John does the duty. Before long, the American government comes after Ted, claiming he can’t have a kid unless he can be qualified as a human. Enter Samantha Jackson (Seyfried), John’s new love interest because Mila Kunis got pregnant and couldn’t do the film (seriously). Some Boston hot spots crop up –
– plus there’s a sperm joke, a vaguely racist joke, a blind joke, a fat joke, some pretty bad regional accents, and Morgan Freeman all in the space of two minutes and thirty seconds. It’s what summer movies are made of, and it hits major theaters on June 26.
