MassDOT describes it as a “Community Path,” but any frustrated Boston biker is sure to know where this lovely looking project will come in handy. Described as a “multi-modal” path starting at West Boulevard in Cambridge and continuing northwest where it connects to the Somerville Community Path at Lowell Street, this project will make for a more designated experience for bikers, joggers, power-walkers, and everyone in between who is often frustrated by the start and stop of Boston’s intersections.
The path will stretch 1.9 miles long and connect four of the Green Line Extension stations: Lowell Street, Gilman Square, Washington Street, and the relocated Lechmere. Get a taste of what the path will be like with this “virtual tour” courtesy of MassDot. No proposed completion date has been announced, however, you can get more information of the project and its various components in this MassDot presentation.
