Actors Chris Pratt and Chris Evans are the stars of two massive superhero franchises. Evans, a native Bostonian, thrilled audiences as Captain America last spring in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, while Pratt helmed the blockbuster hit of the summer as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy.
But now, the two stand on opposite sides of the battlefield, as Evans is an unabashed Patriots fan, while Pratt is a major Seattle Seahawks supporter. What happens when two larger-than-life superheroes face off?
An epic Twitter war and a high-stakes Super Bowl bet, that’s what.
The opening shot was taken by Captain America Monday afternoon.
Well, well, well @prattprattpratt, looks like our teams are going into battle. For the next 2 weeks, you are not my friend, you are my enemy

Soon after, Star-Lord returned fire.
@ChrisEvans We both know there’s only one Captain America and his name is Russell Wilson. #SuperBowlBound #LOB #Repeat — chris pratt (@prattprattpratt) January 19, 2015
The gauntlet thrown, Captain America challenged Star-Lord to put his money where his mouth is.
@prattprattpratt them’s fightin words. Stakes? #whatisaseahawkanyway #somethingtombradyhunts
— Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) January 19, 2015
The crafty superhero replied in a flash, offering terms Captain America could never refuse.
@ChrisEvans OK. Seahawks win you fly yourself to Seattle, visit @seattlechildren hospital as Captain America, waving the 12th man flag. — chris pratt (@prattprattpratt) January 21, 2015
Captain America heroically accepted the terms, offering his own in return.
@prattprattpratt I accept. And when the Patriots humiliate your seachickens, I expect Star-Lord to arrive at @chris_haven in a Brady jersey
— Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) January 21, 2015
And with a final tweet (and a cheap shot at Tom Brady), the bet was on.
Now no matter what happens in the Super Bowl this year, children at either the Seattle Children’s Hospital or Christopher’s Haven –a nonprofit that provides supportive housing for families whose children are receiving outpatient pediatric cancer treatments in Boston– will be getting a hero’s welcome.
So whether you’re Team America…
