Dominic Moore, former Harvard hockey star and NHL player, is known primarily for his work on the ice as a member of the New York Rangers, but his personal story is one of tragedy, love lost, and resilience. This story, which was recently told on an ESPN E:60 segment, centers around his relationship with his wife, Katie Urbanic, which started when the two attended Harvard together.
The piece is heartbreaking to say the least, but tells of their dream to build a house together in Cambridge, just down the street from the Harvard campus. While their dream comes true to some degree, illness presents an incredible hardship for the two. Moore leaves his hockey career for personal reasons, but he doesn’t leave it for good.
If you’re looking for a good cry this week, check this segment out. And you might, even though it seems almost criminal to root for a New York Ranger, send him good luck vibes this playoff season.
