One just toted home an Oscar, the other double fisted a set of Grammys, and our pop collaboration dreams have been answered – John Legend and Sam Smith have teamed up and released a beautiful single for charity. Your move, Monday.

The single, titled “Lay Me Down,” intercuts images of worldwide poverty with shots of Legend and Smith in the studio recording the bare-bones, heartwrenching single. Smith had previously released the song on his debut album In The Lonely Hour, but the new recording is far more stripped down and, naturally, has the added benefit of that signature John Legend magic.

Released as a part of Red Nose Day, an annual fundraising movement from UK-based nonprofit Comic Relief, the duo will be donating every cent of the song’s profit to forward the mission to alleviate world poverty.

Not surprisingly, the two goofballs were more than happy to participate –

But don’t let the silly pictures fool you, “Lay Me Down” is actually an incredibly touching slow burn that’s bound to hit the prom circuit with a vengeance this spring. As the outdoors continue to thaw, so shall your heart.
