Is it true that everything sounds funnier in a British accent?
It worked for our dear friend Charlie and his poor brother, but perhaps the ultimate test is to give a few classy dames some swear words and just let the magic happen. That’s exactly what went down when Entertainment Weekly gathered three of the ladies of “Downton Abbey,” more specifically Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith), Lesley Nicol (Mrs. Patmore) and Phyllis Logan (Mrs. Hughes), to engage in a game of Cards Against Humanity.
For those unaware with the trendy card game, the point is to essentially fill in the blank of a popular phrase with one of the cards in your hand– these cards often containing dirty words or phrases. While the game is designed to reward participants for their creativity, the victorious ones, you’ll notice, are usually the ones who can strategically use cards that say “fart” or “balls” or something of that nature.
It’s a real hoot if you enjoy potty humor, but it’s clearly even better when played in a classic British accent. Mrs. Patmore in particular has a splendid time laughing about “bitch slaps” being used as educational methods and enjoying “my sex life” to the very last drop. Makes you feel a bit less guilty about chuckling with your buddies about the “balls” card.
