Think about what a semi-island, gospel-esque, third-rate rendition of “The Lion King” soundtrack meets John Legend might sound like. That right there is “Traveler”. Steve Oundo’s passion for the music he makes absolutely does not go unnoticed on each track as the Brighton-based singer belts out lyrics like, “You pretend to be a sheep, but you’re a hyena at heart.” Cue the backing gospel-like singers and you have one really extravagant, and dare I say it, overreaching anthem. Lyrically repetitive and overtly obvious in premise, “Traveler” will unfortunately not be on the BDCwire Best of 2014 list come December.
