Much has been made of the lack of diversity at the Oscars this year, and host Neil Patrick Harris wasted no time in mentioning that.
Harris said, “Today we honor Hollywood’s best and whitest. Sorry, brightest.”
And he’s right. The Oscars are extremely Caucasian this year, even by the Academy’s standards: it’s the first time in two decades that every nominated actor was white. The Academy itself? Also very white.
