We’ve made it. Another September 1 in Allston has passed us, but it didn’t come without its bumps, bruises, and the occasional minor disaster. As rats and bed bugs salivated at the sight of another year’s beer-stained garbage, and U-Haul after U-Haul wriggled down narrow backstreets, a fresh batch of Allstonites were born. It may not be the most welcoming experience to the neighborhood, but moving day is more or less a baptism by fire, or the initiation that young movers must go through in order see the fruits of the area. This past weekend, a much-needed crew of inspectors bounced from apartment to apartment, and even Mayor Walsh showed face to welcome some fresh faced students into Boston’s most student dominated hood. Here are the scenes we captured.
