Former Modern Lovers frontman and prolific solo artist Jonathan Richman played the second of three consecutive sold-out shows at the Middle East upstairs on Thursday night, featuring longtime collaborator Tommy Larkins on drums. The Natick native is something of a local legend, as “Roadrunner,” a song he wrote with the Modern Lovers, has even been considered to be named Massachusetts’ state rock song.
