Goatwomen, sad clowns and severed heads decorated the alleyways of Harrison Ave. last Sunday, as New England Open Markets wrapped up its last outdoor market of the season with the SoWa annual costume contest. This year’s theme was “Carnival of Curiosities,” which brought an array of intricate handmade costumes. SoWa visitors and vendors displayed these costumes on a spooky catwalk, strutting to the tune of eerie carnival melodies and even eerier — wait for it — Halloween hip-hop. Take a look at some of the costumes and oddities the “Carnival of Curiosities” had in store.
