It was just announced today that Evolution 101.7, “Boston’s station for all things dance,” will no longer be on the radio. While the station WEDX has been in business since the 1960s, playing host to the legendary WFNX for much of it, it switched its focus to EDM on December 20, 2012, branding itself as “Evolution 101.7.”
Over a year and half, 101.7 has generated a loyal Boston fan base, supporting the college-heavy dance scene, while showcasing electronic music from the biggest names in the biz and new, up-and-coming talent. Despite going off the air, they will remain on the iHeartRadio service, as well as on HD radio at 107.9 HD2. They have made it clear that their shows, music, website, and social accounts will be staying the same. They’ll just be transitioning off the dial.

Evolution promises to continue supporting Boston music too…
We will continue to support the Boston music scene because you deserve it. Thank you for your continued support – you guys are amazing. — Evolution 101.7 (@bostonevolution) June 13, 2014
As of 3 p.m. today, the station will play country music, because as you’ll remember from the Kevin Millar days, Boston loves to “Cowboy Up.”
