Berklee College of Music is home to many talented music students from all walks of life. The institution is filled of songwriters, singers, and performers, but one thing they are lacking in are studied kazoo players. Today, April 1, Berklee president Roger Brown proudly and jokingly announced that the kazoo will be the school’s newest principal instrument.
According to the video, the instrument has been used for hundreds of years and there hasn’t been a hit record in the past 50 years without the help of a kazoo. One professor cites that it’s great for harmony and another saying “no serious improviser should leave home without it.”
