Yesterday, people couldn’t stop talking about three heads of state, including President Barack Obama, teaming up for a selfie at the memorial service for Nelson Mandela. Now another bizarre side story is emerging from the Dec. 10 event — the sign language interpreter onstage and just feet away from Obama during his speech was reportedly faking it.
Bruno Druchen, the national director of Deaf Federation of South Africa, didn’t hide his contempt for the interpreter during the event:
Please get RID of this CLOWN interpreter, please! pic.twitter.com/ziAZ4KBFNZ

The Associated Press reported that three sign language experts said the man wasn’t signing in South African or American sign languages.
“It was horrible, an absolute circus, really really bad,” Nicole Du Toit, an official sign language interpreter, told the AP. “Only he can understand those gestures.”
So what was he doing? Our best guess is the Lance Bass moves from an ‘N Sync video.
