Let it go, guys. We may never have another Whitney Houston anthem again, but Idina Menzel, known as the pipes behind the biggest smash hit from Frozen (and for being given a nonsensical nickname from John Travolta) ain’t a bad pick for this year’s Super Bowl.
Menzel announced this morning on her website that she will be belting the National Anthem to kick off the festivities of Super Bowl XLIX. In addition, John Legend, who just scooped an Oscar nomination on top of a Golden Globe win, will sing “America the Beautiful.”
Menzel had quite the 2014, raking in an Academy Award, a Grammy nomination, and endless praise for her vocal work in Frozen. While she didn’t wrap up the year in the most impressive fashion, there is no doubt that Menzel has a WICKEDly talented vocal range and could potentially give our National Anthem a rendition to remember.
