The Internet (much like the world at large) can be a pretty crummy place. In February, a 4Chan user proved that, uploading a photo of a man they laughed at for the crime of dancing and having fun in public. “Spotted this specimen trying to dance the other week,” the caption reads. “He stopped when he saw us laughing.” But after such a stark reminder of the cruelty many face because of their bodies, we’re happy to report that this story has a happy ending.
First, a screencap of the 4chan post was added to imgur by a user named Frozenbadger, scolding the meanness of the 4chan poster.
“I find this behavior f*cking despicable. If you’re out there big man, f*ck those kids. Keep dancing.”
After seeing the photo, an LA writer for The Free Thought Project named Cassandra Fairbanks tweeted that her and a group of LA women wanted to make the wrongs right if anyone could help locate the gentleman.
Anyone know this man or who posted this? There’s a huge group of ladies in LA who would like to do something special pic.twitter.com/DGbu3AXOrB

Thousands of others joined in the search for the man, while others began planning the party, in hopes they would find him.

With so many people on the case, it was only a matter of time. And this morning, they found him.

The man, whose first name is Sean, lives in London, and had to create a Twitter account for himself to respond to the dance invite (he said yes!) and to the outpouring of well wishes.
@CassandraRules @MaxTaucer #finddancingman Cassandra just seen invite and would love to join you in LA for a dance off!!

Even though this was supposed to be a ladies party, they might have to make an exception for Pharrell.
@Pharrell @CassandraRules Thanks for the interest and the tweet. Today is a day I have never imagined would happen

A GoFundMe page devoted to the dance party and bringing Sean to Los Angeles blew past its original goal of $5,000 in less than two hours, and will probably pass its new goal of $10,000 soon enough. According to the fundraising page, any additional funds raised beyond the cost of the dance party will be donated to an anti-bullying charity.
With so much bad news affecting the world today, its stories like these that give us faith in humanity.
@FMacvicar @CassandraRules #FindDancingMan @MaxTaucer Big thanks to all who have tweeted such kind words. Not stopped smiling and laughing
