Hey, Grandmaster Flash would like to wish you a happy birthday. No wait, you’re not that special. But it seems like the hip-hop legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has been accumulating a lot of sweet messages from other people’s grandmas on Facebook, thanks to some hilarious accidental auto-tagging.
If you start typing “Grandm–” on a Facebook post, and the overly helpful social-media service may suggest to fill in the rest of the word with a link to Grandmaster Flash’s official music page instead. Sure, any one of us would realize the incorrect suggestion and erase the link, but if your grandma is anything like most technology-impaired parents and grandparents, whose sole purpose of getting on Facebook in the first place was to socially-acceptably lurk their grandson or granddaughter’s pictures, what are the odds she’s going to catch this?
What’s even better is that a Tumblr dubbed “Love, Grampa and Grandmaster Flash” has been set up to capture some of the resulting posts, and they are hilarious.
