The Huskies. They kill me, slowly, every February. Down 3-1 with 10 minutes to play in the third period, they came back and tied the Terriers…only to lose sixty seconds into overtime, another opportunity to end their Beanpot drought squandered.
There was so much hope for the Huskies this year. My dad and I took our spots at press level just in time for the consolation game between Harvard and Boston College. Look how happy we are!
And the BC-Harvard game was an overtime thriller. Great hockey game. Here’s our recap.
So, onto the final: Northeastern-Boston University. Another fantastic hockey game. Northeastern gave up an early goal in the first, but answered with one of their own shortly thereafter. BU owned the second period, going up 3-1. My heart sank. I tweeted this:
It's as if the Beanpot is the football, Northeastern is Charlie Brown, and BC & BU take turns playing Lucy every other year.

But wait! Two quick goals in the third and Northeastern tied it up. Overtime! Then this happened:
My pals Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe and Fred Toucher of 98.5 The Sports Hub both showed their support.
For moment, @adamxii holding it together, proud Husky he.

Still you have the trumpet MT @adamxii Beanpot is the footbal Northeastern is Charlie Brown, and BC & BU take turns playing Lucy every year.

For the record, I played the trombone as an undergrad at Northeastern, not the trumpet. And the Beanpot losses hurt just as much back then as they do now.
But there’s always next year, right? Right.
