Boston

Are you getting sick of award campaigns that strive to name the best things in Boston, no matter how random and irrelevant they are to your life in the city? Best social media “ninja,” best “tastemaker” in the HUB, best this, best that.

Well, in a way, this another one of those, but with a fresh perspective: awards for events and things to do in the city. Once finished, we want these awards to serve a go-to guide for experiencing Boston to the fullest, without going broke at the same time. It’s the first of its kind, and today we’re launching it with our “call for submissions” phase. Are you are someone who knows about things that are good, principally in the fields of music/restaurants/nightlife? If so, we need your help.

If you’ve checked out the curated event listings on The Boston Calendar, you know there’s an almost endless roster of fun stuff to do in the city, which is why we’ve decided to salute Boston’s best events and things to do with The Boston Calendar Best Of Awards, presented by BDCwire. Getting back to you: We need you to submit your favorites for 25 awards in the categories of Food, Drinks/Nightlife, Culture, Music, and City Living. Submit your entries here through September 15, and rally support for your favorites on social media with the hashtag #BestInBoston.

This is your chance to pay tribute to your favorite dive bar and the life-altering advice you read carved into the wall above the sink. The neighborhood music festival where you saw a month’s worth of bands for free. The restaurant deal that has you secretly grateful for Massachusetts’ food-based approach to happy hour.

Get your TBC Best Of Awards submissions in through September 15. Five finalists for each category will be announced on October 1, as determined by The Boston Calendar and BDCwire team members. Winners will be determined by a panel of guest judges assigned to specific categories based on their expertise, who will also take social media support into consideration (once again, that’s #BestInBoston).

Follow @TheBostonCal and @BDCwire on Twitter for updates on finalists, guest judges, and how we plan to announce the winners in November. Probably a party so amazing we almost have to create a new award on the spot to honor our own event, only we won’t because we’re too modest, anyways you guys are the ones who deserve an award, really.
