A strong lineup for the Pops this spring.
The 2017 spring season runs from May 10-June 17, with a common thread running through: a tribute to John Williams’ film music. Keith Lockhart and a parade of special guests will honor the composer and his 37-year association with the Boston Pops. I’ve cherry-picked a few performances of note; click here for the entire schedule.
Opening Night with Queen Latifah
The Queen is hyped up indeed. If she goes deep into the back catalog and drops a symphonic version of “Ladies First” or “Latifah’s Had It Up To Here,” I might just lose my mind.
From “The Battle Of Who Could Care Less” through his current Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, the indie O.G. will no doubt run the musical gamut.
As advertised: the greatest summer film of all time, screened with the Pops performing the entire score in sync with the movie.
Forty years strong, and they haven’t missed a beat. See them take the stage with the Pops after the orchestra plays a set of 80s favorites.
