The future is here. If you’re in the United Kingdom, you can now ride on a bus powered entirely by human and food waste.
Unlike fossil fuels, there’s no shortage of human waste, which is what makes the British “Bio-Bus” so exciting. The 40-seat poopmobile runs on biomethane gas generated at a sewage center. According to the BBC, the eco-friendly vehicle can travel up to 186 miles on one tank of gas, which is the equivalent of a year’s supply of poop from five people.
The bus currently runs from Bristol Airport to the city of Bath. And don’t worry, you won’t need a bath after riding it. The gas has been filtered for impurities, and is virtually odorless — which can’t always be said about MBTA buses.
