The databases of both Soundcloud and Bandcamp are awash with ProTools R&B, and King Peaxure’s “Idle Reader” only escapes the tar pit of pre-packed forgetability because it seems so damn vulnerable. Ayan Sanyal’s melodramatic opus bares a lot of soul in its five-song run, but the beats seem boxed and adolescent. In the end, the heaping honesty of “Idle Reader” is undone by a weakly arpeggiated backdrop.
