In an overwhelmingly DIY effort, The Art Book Club out of Somerville creates intelligent and spontaneous collaborative artworks – shared sketchbooks, themed paintings – of six-month periods that when left with the finished products exudes the strikingly unique styles of each of the group’s six members. Some pieces, like their first project entitled, “Works Well With Others,” is like finding a really awesome sketchbook, and unknowingly stumbling into a mesmerizing display of intricate and thought-provoking art pieces. It’s like a candid look into each artist’s psyche that was given free reign to put down on the page whatever the artist felt like at that very moment. As the six artists of The Art Book Club work both independently and collaboratively they’re dedication on each of their projects shows in the dexterity of each of their pieces.
