The reluctant rock star is dead at 52.
Music fans of a certain age will no doubt have certain feelings about Cornell’s death, which has been ruled as suicide by hanging. I shared my thoughts in a series of tweets.
Cornell's importance, like Cobain/Staley/Weiland/etc. is transcendent because of the importance of the musical movement he helped establish.

That's the irony, right? Grunge was supposed to be more "authentic," yet these bands still boozed & drugged as hard as their forebears.

To see its stars fall over the years in the manner that they've fallen is a sobering reminder that Ka is a wheel and it's all bullshit.

Boomers, we outrocked you but couldn't kick your shitty habits. Millenials, Cornell had more talent then Kanye or whoever. Thank you.

I also paid tribute to Cornell with a short set of songs showcasing his otherworldly vocal talents.
And that’s all I can muster right now. So I’ll share some words from a friend of mine. “He was an incredible talent and brought much joy to many. We never know the pain people are carrying as they walk through the world. This is a good reminder to always be kinder than necessary, because everyone we meet is fighting some kind of battle.”
