Looking to ditch the tots before the ball drops? All you need is to hide the clocks and put on Netflix’s just-for-kids New Year’s Eve special, from the furry stars of Dreamworks’ “Madagascar.”

According to a survey commissioned by the streaming site, 34% of parents admitted to tricking their children into thinking midnight came earlier than it really did, not wanting a bunch of cranky basket cases to ruin the new year for the adults. To combat the problem, Netflix is offering a New Year’s Eve special starting today that’s less than five minutes long and can be played any time.

A spinoff of King Julien XII, the insane lemur dictator from the “Madagascar” film franchise, “All Hail King Julien” features the voice talents of Danny Jacobs (subbing in for Julien’s original voice actor, Sacha Baron Cohen), Henry Winkler, and Andy Richter. The New Year’s special is only part of the “All Hail King Julien” series, which debuted four episodes on Netflix December 19.

I’d tell you more about it, but you probably stopped reading once I told you how to distract your kids on New Year’s, didn’t you?
