Usually when you think of Narragansett, you picture tallboy cans and straightforward lagers, not cutely designed bombers and Imperial-IPAs. But as the fifth installment of the ‘Gansett Private Stock series of 22-ounce limited edition craft offerings, the 124-year old company just released its all new “Town Beach Imperial IPA.”
Described as an “evenly-balanced IPA,” the Town Beach Imperial IPA fuses a German Pisner base with American style ingredients that result in a citrusy brew, and flavorful and easily drinkable IPA. An easy-to-drink IPA, that weighs in at a whopping 8.1% ABV? Count us in.
Now, we know we said that Narragansett Del’s Summer Shandy was the greatest thing Rhode Island has ever produced, but we’ll take an extra 3.1% ABV points in place of a refreshing, and reminiscent lemonade-style beer any day. Let’s just hope it doesn’t race off of shelves the same way our lemon-flavored friend has this summer.
The beer has just hit stores in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut today, so be patient, it will be at Blanchard’s soon.
