There’s been a lot of chatter surrounding Nirvana’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tomorrow night. Sans Kurt Cobain, the rumor mills have been spinning a number of possible artists that will step in and front the surviving members of the grunge group. Drummer Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters instagrammed a photo, presumably from event rehearsals, that shows Krist Novoselic’s bass, Pat Smear’s guitar, Dave Grohl’s drumkit and wait for it….Joan Jett’s signature Melody Maker.

This wouldn’t be the first time Jett and Grohl have shared the spotlight. The Foo Fighters appeared with Jett on “The Late Show With David Letterman” back in 2011, and Grohl himself also collaborated on Jett’s 2013 album “Unvarnished,” so the idea isn’t totally out of left field. But we don’t want to be too quick to jump to conclusions since the Foo Fighters have been found in recent months jamming with a number of rock stars including the Rolling Stones, Queens of the Stone Age, Zac Brown Band, and Jack Black.

Joan Jett’s speculated appearance seems maybe slightly more fitting than the last person who fronted a previous reunion of Nirvana’s, Sir Paul McCartney, and we all know that Jett loves rock and roll, but maybe her hard rock chops aren’t the right fit. Who do you think should front Nirvana’s performance for the induction ceremony tomorrow?
