Snow can’t stop Santa. Even when his sleigh is a bike and he’s riding around Boston tasting beers. The storm during Saturday’s Santa Cycle Rampage, an unsponsored ride around Greater Boston that stopped at seven local breweries, might have trimmed the number of Santas to nine, but that didn’t keep Santa Dan and his fellow cycling Saint Nicks from getting jolly.
For the past few years Malden resident Dan Carew has traveled to Milwaukee to participate in the annual Santa Cycle Rampage with his father-in-law. But when he couldn’t make the trip this December, he decided to bring the event to Boston to “spread holiday cheer and drink local beer.”
After meeting at Ula Cafe in Jamaica Plain in the morning, they rode to a brewery tour at Sam Adams, followed by stops at Harpoon Brewery, Trillium Brewing Co., Mystic Brewery, Idle Hands Craft Ales, and Night Shift Brewing, before finishing at Cambridge Brewing Co. in Kendall Square. All during a snowstorm. Good thing beer keeps you warm.
