The lighting of the Holiday Tree has increasingly become a more celebratory event here in Boston, turning into much more than just the simple flick of a switch in recent years.
This weekend’s tree lighting ceremony at Faneuil Hall was hosted by Mayor Marty Walsh, who read “Twas The Night Before Christmas” before lighting the almost 90-foot shrub that contained more than 30,000 bulbs. The event also included performances by the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and Boston Ballet doing “The Nutcracker.” The tree will be lit every night from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. until January 4.
