It’s been a year in the making, but friends and Boston-based creatives Anna Leocha and Holly Copeland have released the first issue of their new art and literature journal, HUM. In accordance with the release of the 44-page kickoff issue, the two women at the helm of the artistic project threw a launch party this past Saturday at a Seaport District loft, where artists and supporters browsed art from the issue’s 15-featured artists and caroused around drinking PBR tall cans.
Those in attendance not only received a copy of the debut issue, which features multi-format work from a wide range of local artists, but also caught a set from local 14-piece Italian orchestra, Tredici Bacci, led by Guerilla Toss’ Simon Hanes, who delivered a unique and grandiose set of pitch-perfect instrumentation and an onslaught of strings.
With the intention of bonding together artists and writers from diverse backgrounds and influences, HUM plans to continue to curate and share an eclectic and expansive mix of media that’s unconventional, provocative, and conceptually innovative.
