Be our guest if you feel like freaking out over the latest Disney news.
This morning, an exclusive TheWrap report revealed that actress and activist Emma Watson would be taking on the role of Belle in the upcoming live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast.
No word yet on who will play Gaston or Beast, but the film is slated per a Variety report, to have Bill Condon (Dreamgirls, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) at the helm, Mandeville Films as producer, and Evan Spiliotopoulos writing the script.
The news comes just a few days after Watson, a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, gave an impassioned follow-up #HeForShe address at the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland on Jan. 23.
With the fantastical Harry Potter franchise under her belt, there’s no doubt Watson has the chops to take on the acting requirements of the role, but we have little evidence of her singing voice.
The most recent clip we could find of Watson’s vocals comes from the biblical Noah (2014), which she starred in alongside Russell Crowe (below).
