Being stuck at home during a blizzard isn’t that bad. You can binge-watch everything you’ve been meaning to watch on Netflix, hold a blizzard dinner party with your friends, and best of all you won’t get eaten by the Boston Yeti. But all morning long New Englanders have been crying out on social media for one very New England reason: they can’t get their Dunkin’ Donuts fix.
Boston.com called several Dunks locations to find out whether they were open. Turns out that some were, but many weren’t.
“Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants are owned and operated by individual franchisees who are responsible for making their own decisions with regard to opening their restaurants during a storm,” Michelle King, Sr., the director of global public relations at Dunkin’ Brands said in a statement. “All openings or temporary closures are at the discretion of the franchisee.”
Phone calls to the ten Dunkin’ Donuts stores closest to downtown Boston went unanswered, but at least one spot was open in Cambridge’s Porter Square. Adnan Shaikh, who was working the shop’s register Tuesday morning, said he was glad to see a number of plow drivers come in. “They are helping, cleaning the road for us and it’s nice to give them hot coffee and sandwiches,” Shaikh said.
To help you deal with the caffeine crisis, we rounded up some of the best reactions on social media from Bostonians going through Dunkin’ Donuts withdrawal. (That is, if you aren’t already snowshoeing your way to the Dunks in Porter right now.)
