Selma, the film directed by Ava DuVernay, which focuses on the late, great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s time in Selma Alabama in 1965, wasn’t nominated for many awards. But, when it was called for its first, it took home the gold.

“Glory,” performed by John Legend and Common, took home Oscar gold.

David Oyelowo, who played King in the film, was unable to hold back his emotion after their performance.

And, as if that weren’t enough to guarantee you’ll remember Selma’s moment, Legend and Common gave a powerful speech.

Dr. King would be proud.
