Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg’s has launched a campaign to ban the word “bossy,” and it has caused quite the reaction from various internet sources. Sandberg, who has the support of Beyonce, Condolleeza Rice, and more, believes that “when a little boy asserts himself, he’s called a ‘leader.’ Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded ‘bossy.'” Ultimately, Sandberg hopes that the banning of the word will encourage more young girls to become leaders. Saturday’s “Blarney Blowout” party near the UMass Amherst campus ended in several arrests and injuries, yet a few days later, opinions on the Internet remain mixed.
