The Beastie Boys’ 1986 goofball hit “Girls” is one of the trio’s all-time classics. This week, a commercial for toy company GoldieBlox has taken the tune and re-written it for a kickass girl-power anthem. The two-minute ad is extremely inventive and has gone viral on more than a few mommy blogs. The Beastie Boys have usually been largely against licensing its songs for commercial purposes, but this one is just too awesome and it also makes sense that one of the Beastie Boys is married to Kathleen Hanna, feminist activist and frontwoman of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre.
