Here’s That Unreleased Nirvana Track You Heard About
RadioBDC

Nirvana’s “Sappy” was first released as a hidden track (titled “Verse Chorus Verse”) on the 1993 compilation ‘No Alternative,‘ then later included on the Nirvana box set ‘With The Lights Out.’ The song was originally titled “Sad” and was recorded at home by Kurt Cobain in the late 80s. Confused yet? You can click through to listen to those two and compare them with this latest version, which is thought to be an outtake from the ‘Nevermind’ sessions, recorded at Sound City Studios. Personally, “Sappy” is a favorite Nirvana track of mine, so I’m enjoying listening to this newly discovered version. More

On Tom Brady: His Suspension, His Legacy
Sports

Full disclosure: I don’t like football. And I find the NFL’s stances on issues like player safety and domestic violence to be shameful. So I really don’t have any business busting out the hot sports takes on #Deflategate. Which is why I had Kevin Paul Dupont from the Boston Globe on with me today. He offered some interesting perspective on Tom Brady’s recent predicament, his legacy as a hero of Boston sports, and football fandom and fantasy. More

Boston Hip-Hop Duo 7L and Esoteric Talk ‘Czarface’
RadioBDC

Simply put, the new Czarface album ‘Every Hero Needs A Villain is incredible. I talked to 7L and Esoteric about the project: how the comic book was conceptualized and executed, the recording process, and how they connected with the collaborators. All in all, a fascinating conversation about a damn fine project. See Czarface at the Middle East on Saturday night. Doors at 8. More

RadioBDC Sports: Red Sox Fans Need a History Lesson
Sports

For years, I’ve extolled the virtues of my favorite Red Sox player, Cy Young, the greatest pitcher OF ALL TIME (not debatable: they named the damn award after him). Last Sunday, my pal Kevin Paul Dupont wrote about ol’ Denton True being snubbed by Sox fans in MLB’s ‘Franchise Four.’ I feel vindicated. I told KPD so, and we discussed Cy, Sox fans, and this year’s sad squad. More

A Biased and Clearly Uninformed Update on the Boston Olympic Bid
RadioBDC

It’s no secret that both Eric Wilbur and I are part of the growing number of Bostonians who are critical of Boston2024’s Olympic bid. Does our bias seep into our conversation? Absolutely. And for good reason: from the get-go, Boston2024 has kept the public first in the dark, and now in half-light. Still, though, we hit on the facts so far (or lack thereof) and urge you to tune into this Thursday’s debate, airing on Fox25 and streaming at BostonGlobe.com. More
