Why “I Saved Latin?” Because “On The Run From Johnny Law…Ain’t No Trip To Cleveland” is too long to fit on CD spines and album sleeves and iTunes scrolls. All kidding aside, as someone who spends as much time with his soundtracks as I do with Wes Anderson’s movies, I’m over the moon about a clutch of artists covering tracks from Anderson films. Let’s take a look at who’s playing what.
New Orleans duo Generationals will tackle Creation’s “Making Time,” the song that introduces us to Max Fischer and his many hats in “Rushmore.”
Boston’s own Juliana Hatfield takes on Elliott Smith’s “Needle In The Hay” from the infamous shaving scene in “The Royal Tenenbaums.”
Solvent covers “Nothing In This World Can Stop Me Worryin’ ‘Bout That Girl” by The Kinks, from another classic Rushmore scene.
“I Saved Latin: A Tribute To Wes Anderson” will be released on American Laundromat Records this spring. Click here for the full track listing and details.
