Feel good

After the owner of a 90-year-old pet tortoise posted a plea on the Internet when the animal’s legs were gnawed off by a rat earlier this year, Mrs. T (the tortoise) now has wheels in place of her two front legs, the BBC reports.

Her owner Jude Ryder had previously worked with veterinarians to attempt a prosthetic leg transplant for Mrs. T, but the attempts produced no successful results. She consulted her mechanical engineer son Dale on other potential alternatives and voila – one set of model plane wheels and an axle later, Mrs. T can move forwards, backwards and around.

“She can get a good speed up, much faster than before,” Ms. Ryder added, proving that slow and steady wins the race…even if it takes 90 years to get an upgrade.
