A couple weeks ago I said Hannah and Adam seemed to be moving past their friends down the slippery slope of adulthood. I take it back. It’s just Adam.
This week’s episode proved Hannah isn’t quite as ready as we thought she was to take on the big, bad world of responsibility. The girl is on a wild ride of self-sabotage that very few people can pull themselves out of. It’s looking less and less like Hannah will be able to, as she continues to alienate every single person who cares about her.
1) Adam is moving on and Hannah is freaking out
Hannah’s reaction to Adam’s career success is to ruin her own and quit her job in a completely insane way. The advertorial position she landed at GQ can’t compare with Adam’s Broadway stardom, so in a manic episode of pseudo-rebellion against corporatocracy, Hannah insults everyone she works with and gets herself fired. Meanwhile, Adam is just trying to focus on his new (and demanding!) acting job. So he moves into Ray’s apartment to get away, leaving Hannah to question everything about their relationship.
2) Marnie is actually a competent singer-songwriter
Desi, the super-hot actor from Adam’s show, is Marnie’s new creative partner. The two have been writing songs and practicing together, and the outcome is actually a really good product.
3) Jessa’s legs are back
Yes, they’re poking out of a terrible, olive green, Greco-Roman toga-dress, but hot damn! Cocaine does have its upsides. It’s nice to see Jessa, easily the sexiest of the group, looking fit and sober again. Plus, she gets herself a job! It’s amazing the way some people manage to always stay afloat, and Jessa is one of these mysterious creatures.
4) Shoshanna’s trademark bitchiness is better than Hannah’s
“Are you going to be ok?”
“Like, ok how?”
“Well, like, Adam’s about to be on Broadway, and Marnie’s clearly about to become a popstar, and, like, you were supposed to be the famous artist in this group and now you’re just working in advertising.”
5) Patti LuPone is the star of “Girls”
Because obviously.
